Hebrews 13:14 · Philippians 3:20
For we don’t have here an enduring city, but we seek that which is to come. For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Reflection
Why should we be willing to lose our place in the camp? The Bible gives the answer: “For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come”. The big city of Jerusalem with its strong walls fell to the ground.
In the same way, our bank accounts, our houses, and our jobs will not last forever. They will all turn to dust. We are like Abraham, who lived in tents because he was waiting for the city built by God. This world is not your final home.

Theology
The Hope
You belong to an eternal city that cannot fall, so you do not need to fear losing earthly things.
Daily life
The Heart
We worry when life shakes because we try hard to build a safe home in this dying world.
Prayer
Father, remind me that this world is not my home. Help me hold earthly things loosely and fix my heart on Your eternal city. Amen.
