Hebrews 12:2 · John 19:30
Looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Reflection
Jesus is called the “founder and perfecter” of our faith. Founder means pioneer. He went first into the rough ground. He took the first hits, opened the track, and endured the cross.
Perfecter means finisher. He did not start the race and then leave you to finish the hard work alone. For the joy set before Him — the joy of saving you — He took the shame of the cross and sat down in victory. Sitting down means the saving work is completely finished. The tape is already broken.

Theology
The Hope
You do not run to earn a win; you run in the wind of a victory that Jesus has already won for you.
Daily life
The Heart
We treat faith like a test we must pass, fearing Jesus is waiting at the line with a stopwatch to cut us if we are slow.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for running the full race for me and finishing it on the cross. Thank You that my finish line is safe in Your hands. Amen.
