Hebrews 9:12 · Hebrews 10:11–12

Nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption. Every priest indeed stands day by day serving and offering often the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins, but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God.

Reflection

In the Old Testament, the high priest went into the Most Holy Place with bowls of animal blood year after year. He had to repeat this work again and again because animal blood could not take away sin forever.

But Jesus did not bring the blood of goats or calves. He went into the holy place in heaven by His own blood when He died on the cross. And He did this “once for all”. His work is completely finished, so no more blood ever needs to be shed.
