Ecclesiastes 5:1 · James 1:19
Guard your steps when you go to God's house; for to draw near to listen is better than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they don't know that they do evil. So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.
Reflection
The Bible says: "To draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools." What does it mean to listen? In the Bible, listening does not just mean hearing sounds with your ears. It means hearing God's Word with a heart that is ready to obey. A fool is someone who talks without thinking. A fool walks into church and starts singing or praying with his mouth running fast, while his heart is far away. God does not want empty words. He does not want a show. He wants you to come near with an open heart, ready to hear what He says in His Word.

Theology
The Hope
God speaks to us with grace in Scripture; when we listen to Him, He gives true wisdom to our souls.
Daily life
The Heart
We often want God to listen to our long list of requests, but we spend no time listening to His Word.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, forgive me for talking too much and listening too little. Open my ears and my heart to hear Your Word today. Amen.
