Ecclesiastes 5:2 · Isaiah 55:8–9
Don't be rash with your mouth, and don't let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven, and you on earth. Therefore let your words be few. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways," says Yahweh. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Reflection
The Preacher gives us a big reason to quiet our hearts: "for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few." God is not like us. He is not just a bigger man in the sky. God is in heaven. He is holy, infinite, and knows all things from start to finish. We are on earth. We are small, we grow tired, and we do not even know what will happen tomorrow. When we realize how great God is and how small we are, our pride melts away. We stop trying to give advice to God. We let our words be few, and we rest in His greatness.

The Hope
Because God is in heaven and knows all things, you can trust Him to run the world without your panic.
Daily life
The Heart
We often treat God like a friend on our level, forgetting His holy power and majesty.
Prayer
Almighty God, You are high in heaven, and I am here on earth. Teach me true humility, and let my words before You be few and full of respect. Amen.
