Ecclesiastes 4:12 · Colossians 3:14
If a man prevails against one who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.
Reflection
The Bible ends this picture with a rope: “a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” A single thread can snap with one pull. But when three strands are woven tight together, the rope can hold a huge weight. When Jesus is at the center of your marriage, your friendships, and your church, you have a threefold cord. Jesus is the third strand that never fails. When hard times press down on your life, His strong presence holds you and your friends together so you will not break.

Theology
The Hope
Jesus is the unbreakable strand in your life; when you lean on Him and His church, you will stand firm.
Daily life
The Heart
We try to hold our lives together with our own thin strength, and we feel ready to snap.
Prayer
Living God, weave my life together with Jesus and with Your church. Make our friendships strong like a threefold cord, so that our lives bring glory to Your name. Amen.
