Ecclesiastes 4:11–12 · Proverbs 17:17

Again, if two lie together, then they have warmth; but how can one keep warm alone? If a man prevails against one who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.

Reflection

In the ancient land, travelers walking at night faced bitter cold. If two people lay together, their bodies shared heat to stay alive. Also, robbers hid along the dark roads. One person walking alone could easily be beaten, but two people standing together could fight off the enemy. Life in this world has cold seasons and spiritual attacks. When we stand together in the church, we keep each other warm in faith, and we guard each other against the lies of the enemy.
