Ecclesiastes 3:14 · 1 Corinthians 15:54–57
I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it; and God has done it, that men should fear before him. But when this perishable body will have become imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “Death, where is your sting? Hades, where is your victory?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Reflection
The last and most scary season that the clock brings is death. Under the sun, people run hard to build a name before their time runs out. But Jesus did not stay in the tomb. On the third day, He rose from the dead. He beat death, which was the last weapon of the clock. Because Jesus rose, your life is not a countdown to the grave. In Christ, time becomes a road that leads home. What God does lasts forever. Nothing can be added to it, and nothing can be taken from it.
