Ecclesiastes 3:11 · Matthew 11:28–30
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in their hearts, yet so that man can’t find out the work that God has done from the beginning even to the end. “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Reflection
Why do our hearts feel empty when we get what we wanted? The Bible says that God has put eternity into the human heart. That means your soul is too big to be filled by anything smaller than God Himself.
If you try to fill your soul with cars, jobs, praise, or clothes, it is like drinking salt water — you only get more thirsty. Jesus calls to you today: stop running on the treadmill. Stop trying to save yourself with your own sweat. Come to Jesus with empty hands, and rest in His finished work on the cross.
