Ecclesiastes 4:1 · 2 Corinthians 1:3–4
Then I returned and saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold, the tears of those who were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
Reflection
The Preacher looked at the world and saw people who were hurt and crushed by others. He saw their tears. Two times he said a sad sentence: “they had no one to comfort them.” In this fallen world, many people suffer in secret. They feel that no one cares and no one sees their pain. God does not want His people to live in cold isolation. He calls us to look at the people around us, see their tears, and bring the comfort of God to their hearts.

Theology
The Hope
God is the Father of mercies, and He uses His people to comfort those who hurt.
Daily life
The Heart
We often look away from the pain of others because we are too busy with our own plans.
Prayer
Dear God, open my eyes to see the hurting people around me. Take away my selfishness and help me bring Your comfort to someone in need today. Amen.
